Dr. Nilda Karoğlu
Clinical psychologist, PhD

EMDR Europe Accredited Therapist Nilda Karoglu began her psychotherapy journey by receiving training at the Essex Institute and Central England College in the United Kingdom. She earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Derby and went on to complete her master's degree in psychology with distinction at the University of Leicester. She was later accepted to the University of Kent—one of the leading universities in the United Kingdom in the field of psychology—to pursue her doctorate. During her doctoral studies, she also worked as a research assistant at the University of Leicester for three years.

During her academic career, she also worked as a psychotherapist at a private clinic in England, specializing in anxiety disorders, fears, phobias, depression, addictions, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), self-esteem issues, weight problems and obesity, anger management issues, difficulties coping with stress, relationship problems, prolonged grief, and performance enhancement. She worked on the Life Story Books Project for psychiatric patients at St Andrew's Hospital and provided group therapy in a stress management program. She also served as a complementary therapist at The Myton Hospice and at the day care center of St Cross Hospital. In her work with individuals suffering from eating disorders and weight problems, she focused on these issues by addressing childhood and other life traumas. In England, she provided both individual and group therapy sessions, helping many people overcome these challenges.

In her clinical work in the field of forensic psychology, she provided psychotherapy to adults who had experienced sexual assault, torture, and physical violence, leading to severe and complex trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety disorders. She offered psychotherapy support both in her clinic and through the Rape or Sexual Abuse (RoSA) organization. She worked for the Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults (SOVA) organization, which aims to prevent reoffending among people released from prison and to help them reintegrate into society. In this role, she provided psychological counselling support. She also worked as an academic and career coach as part of the PERTEMPS organization’s initiatives. Additionally, she participated in a project titled "Interviewing Victims of Sexual Assault or Rape Under the Influence of Alcohol," led by the University of Leicester, University of Loughborough, and the Derbyshire and Leicester Police organizations.

In 2016, Karoglu returned to Turkey and continued providing therapy in both Turkish and English to clients from various countries, offering sessions both in person and online.
